Maryland Auctioneer
Requirements
Maryland does not issue a state auctioneer license. The Maryland Department of Labor does not run a statewide licensing program, but some cities and counties require their own local auctioneer license.
- No state license: The Maryland Department of Labor does not run a statewide auctioneer licensing program
- Local licensing applies: Some cities and counties require their own auctioneer license or permit
- Confirm before every auction: requirements are set by the city or county where the auction will be held, not by where you live
Why Education Still Matters
Maryland does not require a state exam, but the practical skills, the chant, contract and consignment handling, ethics, trust account management, and running a profitable auction business, are what clients and buyers actually evaluate you on.
Ready to build real auction skills, wherever in Maryland you're headed? Missouri Auction School's training covers the chant, contract and consignment handling, and trust account management that clients evaluate you on.
